DBM releases more P8.5B for bonuses and cash gifts from PNP staff

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has released over 8.5 billion pesos for the year-end bonus and cash donation for over 226,000 Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel .

PNP leader General Rodolfo Azurin, Jr. said the end-of-year bonus is equivalent to a month’s base salary, while the cash gift is P5,000.

“The funds come from regular PNP endowments programmed in the agency’s 2022 budget,” Azurin said, adding that a total of 226,515 PNP staff will receive them.

Police Brigadier. Gen. Bowenn Joey Masauding, PNP’s Chief Financial Officer, said the bonus and cash gift will be released to PNP personnel on November 15 through their Landbank ATM payroll accounts.

Masauding, however, clarified that the premium will be subject to tax based on the Tax Reform Acceleration and Inclusion Act or TRAIN Act (Republic Act 10893) and BIR 8- 2018 and 11-2018.

The tac settlement affects PNP personnel with salary level 18 Step 1.

“Furthermore, all relevant PNP staff members who have reached the net net minimum salary are also advised to settle through a cash payment system their outstanding loan(s) for November and December 2022 to avoid incurring penalties and other costs,” Masauding said. .

Azurin, on the other hand, said that the PNP personnel who have been administratively charged and found guilty by the final and binding judgment will not be entitled to receive the year-end bonus and the cash gift.
