Sarah Lawrence President Cristle Collins Judd today announced the hiring of Erin Archer as the College’s Vice President of Finance and Operations. Archer will debut at the College on August 16, 2021.

Archer brings Sarah Lawrence a long history of service in higher education and experience in the financial industry. Most recently, she was Treasurer of Syracuse University, where she led a large team of treasury and endowment accounting staff, the Office of the Bursar, and the Student Debt Management team. In addition to overseeing the management of Syracuse’s $ 1.7 billion endowment, Archer focused on the strategic investment of the university’s nearly $ 500 million working capital and managed its portfolio of main debt of $ 660 million, among other liabilities.

Prior to Syracuse, Archer was Treasurer at DePaul University, where she skillfully managed the transition to a new senior banking partner, working closely with her colleagues at the university to ensure a smooth change that led to better rates. investment and increased interest earned. She has led many efforts, such as refinancing and strategic partnerships, which have significantly reduced the university’s expenses.

Archer’s career began in the financial industry and took her across the country and around the world. She has held equity research positions at Goldman Sachs in London, HSBC Holdings in South Africa, and Thrivent Financial in Minneapolis, among others.

Archer received his BA in Biological Sciences and Law, Humanities and Society from the University of Chicago and his MBA in Finance and Economics from the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago. She is CFA© charter holder and member of the CFA Society of New York.

In her role as Vice President at Sarah Lawrence, Archer will serve as a critical strategic advisor to President Judd, working collaboratively with the Board of Directors, management team, faculty, staff and student leaders to ensure a prosperous and stable financial future for the University. Archer will oversee the College’s financial and treasury functions, facilities, public safety, procurement operations, and ancillary services.
