SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO) – It might not be Thanksgiving yet, but you could call it Turkey Day at the Sioux Falls Banquet.
The East Dakota chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation on Thursday deposited 37 birds at the organization’s central site in Sioux Falls.
The group has been donating this holiday staple to the Banquet for years.
âHolidays are important to all of us, just being with family and friends and having a nice hot meal, whether it’s turkey or whatever you cook,â said Ron Schauer of the East Dakota section of the National. Wild Turkey Federation.
Not only will turkey be on the menu, but also your traditional Thanksgiving sides.
âMashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, cranberries, green bean casserole and pumpkin pie to complete it all,â said Shiloh Oorlog, chief financial officer of The Banquet.
Turkey will be served to guests at both banquet locations.
âEveryone wants to have a great Thanksgiving turkey dinner, and for many of our guests, it’s the only Thanksgiving dinner they’re going to be able to attend,â Oorlog said.
And there will be lots of great food and holiday spirit for everyone.
Thanksgiving is also one of the biggest fundraisers of the year for the banquet.
The Running for food the event is at the WH Lyon Fairgrounds next Thursday.
The event starts at 8:00 a.m.
