JAMESTOWN, ND (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown’s finance and legal committee took the first step to hire a director of public works on Tuesday afternoon.
Deputy Auditor Jay Sveum informed the committee that they had created a position for the position of Director of Public Works.
Sveum says after discussions with Mayor Dwaine Heinrich and City Administrator Sarah Hellekson, it was determined the city needed someone to serve as director of public works.
He added that the demands for all positions within the City of Jamestown have increased and as the city expands there are many more areas of employment to cover and the stress on other departments makes this move needed for the city.
The committee unanimously approved the job description, leading them to discuss the next element of hiring Tyler Michel in the position.
Mayor Dwaine Heinrich added his support for the lease.
Sveum added that they are fortunate to have a qualified candidate for the position at a time when many are in need of employees. The committee unanimously approved the hiring of Michel as the City’s next Director of Public Works.
