Pune, 10th September 2022: It has been revealed that the CEO of Serum Institute Pvt Ltd had Rs one Crore one Lakh extorted from Adar Poonawalla’s mobile number by sending fake WhatsApp messages asking to send money. money to various accounts.

In this regard, a case was filed under Sections 419, 420 and 34 of the IPC, including Computer Act 66 C and D at Bund Garden Police Station. The incident happened online between September 7 and 8. In this regard, Sagar Kittur filed a complaint.

According to information provided by the police, Kittur works as a financial director at the Serum Institute. Adar Poonawalla is the CEO while Satish Deshpande is the director.

Deshpande received a WhatsApp message from Poonawalla’s mobile number in which some bank account numbers were mentioned. It has been requested to send money to this number immediately. Deshpande asked Sagar Kittur, the financial manager, to send the money to the number in question.

As a result, Kittur paid Rs 1 Crore 1 lakh 1 thousand and Rs 554 into various accounts. After a discussion within the company about this, it emerged that Adar Poonawalla had not sent such a message.

It was discovered that the organization had been scammed online. In this regard, a complaint has been lodged with the Bundagarden police and a file has been registered.
